SATIN & SILK

Satin is the OG of XXL Scrunchie. All of our first styles were created in satin as it is one of our favourite fabrics to sew not to mention how good it feels. Satin refers to the weave, not the textile and is most often characterized as having a soft, shiny finish that is perfect for keeping your hair strong, healthy and split end free!

VELVET

Velvet is one of our favourite fabrics simply for the softness, rich colours and textures it comes in. We have 3 different types of velvet we work with! Ribbed velvet (the Chels, Ribbin, Daisy, Morgane) Soft Velvet (the Mai, Jade, Penelope & more) and Stretch Velvet (the Angelique, Cindy, Margo & More). Velvet is woven on a special loom that weaves two thicknesses of the material at the same time. The two pieces are then cut apart to create the pile effect, and the two lengths of fabric are wound on separate take-up rolls. This complicated process meant that velvet was expensive to make before industrial power looms became available, and well-made velvet remains a fairly costly fabric. Keep in mind due to its ribbed surface, our Ribbed Velvet XXL Scrunchies are much heavier than our other materials.

QUICK-DRY

Most quick-dry fabrics are made from nylon, polyester, or merino wool. These fabrics tend to wick moisture away and dry faster than your standard fabric. Quick-dry fabrics are perfect for swimming, beaching, yoga, the gym and outdoor activities!

COTTON

Cotton is the most popular fabric around the world. It is a soft, fluffy staple fiber that grows in a boll, or protective case, around the seeds of the cotton plants of the genus Gossypium in the mallow family Malvaceae. The fiber is most often spun into yarn or thread and used to make a soft, breathable textile. The use of cotton for fabric is known to date to prehistoric times; fragments of cotton fabric dated to the fifth millennium BC have been found in the Indus Valley Civilization, as well as fabric remnants dated back to 6000 BC in Peru.

POLYESTER

Polyester has been a staple in the fashion world for quite a while now. It is a diverse fabric that can be made up of natural, synthetic or a combination of fibers. Polyester is considered one of the most diverse fabrics which is why it is loved by so many!

DENIM

Denim isn't just for jeans! Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. Denim is available in a range of colors, but the most common denim is indigo denim in which the warp thread is dyed while the weft thread is left white. We currently offer the Laiken in 2 different washes.

SHEER

Sheer organza is shiny, gorgeous, lightweight, very soft! Slight shimmer/shine & soft to touch fabric. This fabric is a beautiful thin breathable fabric that gives us cloud vibes! Try our newest zodiac collection that is all made in our organza!

LACE

Lace isn't just for weddings. Lace is elegant and lightweight, yet still soft and durable. With an open background, you can catch light shimmering through due to the open stitches that create a heavy, raised design.

ACETATE

Acetate plastic is an allergy-free plastic made from plants. It was discovered due to the increasing demands for other types of plastics in the 1940s. It is known to be strong, lightweight, and flexible which makes it the preferred material for plastic-based products such as hair clips. Natural cotton and wood fibers acquired from different types of plants are the primary raw materials used to make Acetate plastics. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, acetate plastics are environment-friendly since they are made out of natural renewable materials that decompose over time.

ACRYLIC

Acrylic looks like glass but is far more lightweight, durable and has outstanding strength! All of our scrunchie holders are made with the highest quality acrylic and is a chic way to display your beautiful scrunchies!
