HI, MY NAME IS TINA
I am former mural artist, I used to make scrunchies for myself to match my outfits and keep my hair up while I painted. I would sew them by hand with a needle and thread, and it would take me almost an entire day to make just one scrunchie.

I decided to make a scrunchie for my cousin Anh Lan as a Christmas gift, but with one key difference to suit her super long locks—I made it big. And that's how XXL Scrunchie was born.

ME, MOM & DAD GOT TO WORK
Two weeks after launching XXL Scrunchie from my tiny 400 sq ft apartment in Toronto, I called my parents asking for help. They immediately invited me to come home and have been helping me ever since. Within a year, I went from making scrunchies for myself alone to working from my parents' living room, renovating and operating our business from their basement. In 2021, we moved into our first 2700 sq ft warehouse, and just nine months later, we expanded again, moving the entire brand into our current 4000 sq ft warehouse with a team of eight incredible people.

IT’S A FAMILY THING

I could not have done it without the help and support of my parents. No matter how big we get, we’ll always be a family business first and foremost. With my mom helping me cut and choose fabric and my dad handling quality control and deliveries, there’s an incredible amount of love that goes into creating each and every scrunchie.
